Sister Jenny describes herself as the “outside the box” nun. She likes to do creative looks and costumes, and rarely does the same thing twice. She’s a leader in the community in Regina and is happy to be working with the rest of the Bread Basket Sisters to be a founding member. Jenny enjoys working with other community groups and lending a hand to their cause through volunteering for jobs ranging from working at a local drag show taking tickets, planning a larger AIDS benefit with a committee, helping other sisters with makeup and creative tips, offering glitter blessings, or even just being in attendance at fundraisers to offer support.

Sister Demona is a Sarcastic Comedy Queen, and Neutral Negotiator. She likes to have fun with a style that is constantly evolving. Her performances tend to portray emotion, and usually have a hidden, or symbolic meaning. She's known to many as a friendly neutral ear, and a compassionate shoulder, but definitely has an opinion on everything. While she is not afraid to make that opinion known, she does try to temper the delivery of those opinions in a constructive way. She’s a fierce advocate in the community and outside, educating friends and family members on issues that affect the LGBTQ community. Demona is very proud to be a founding member of the BreadBasket Sisters, the first house in Saskatchewan, and is looking forward to continuing the work with the rest of the Bread Basket Sisters.
Demona has been very active in volunteering for various groups in and out of the community, such as the ICS, APSS, and has helped to raise considerable funds for those organizations. She is also a community producer on the local Regina/Saskatchewan based cable company Access Communications, and helped to develop Regina Sask's first LGBTQ talk show, Prairie Pride. Advocacy and activism are very important goals.

SISTER ALURA MAHN
GUARD BARON I’TALL

Sister Alura Mahn is the notorious party princess raver of the Bread Basket Sisters. Almost always decked out in the coolest VANS shoes, she tears it up on a dancefloor like none other (thankfully Yada almost always takes her requests). In the rave and festival scene, she brings a passion for the PLUR lifestyle, spreading love and joy to other fellow ravers. A kandi kid, Alura is almost always wearing brightly coloured pony bead bracelets and cuffs, along with outrageous perler necklaces. Embracing the iconic IDGAFOS mantra, Alura lives life out loud and proud, unafraid of her own creativity or the thoughts and judgments of others. By doing so, she hopes to inspire others to do similar, throwing their fears to the wind and “getting schwifty.” Alura, in her quest to expand her creative pursuits and demolish her walls and comfort zone, was the first member of the Bread Basket Sisters to create a guard persona—Baron I’tall. Generally shirtless and clad in leather, Baron often dons spirit hoods and paints his face in a zoomorphic fashion, embracing the animalistic and primal side of human sexuality—perhaps taking the term “party animal” to a whole new level. Perhaps slightly quieter than Alura, Baron still rips up a dance floor with reckless abandon. He’s out for a good time and wants others to feel the same, even if half-naked vulnerability is a means to an end. Alura is happily working alongside her fellow sisters toward becoming a mission house. Coupling her party side with a solid work ethic, she pitches in wherever she is needed. Often involved in event set-up and decoration, she hauls chairs/tables, helps come up with creative decorations and also assists with tear down. She can often be seen at the doors of many events, welcoming people to the occasion and taking tickets/cover. Baron will also sling drinks in his leather, while shaking his booty for tips, whenever a community organization has the need. Drawing on kandi kid inspiration, Baron helped make red ribbon perler rosaries to be gifted upon an APSS donation. Alura has been involved in the communities of Regina and Winnipeg for over a decade, lending her assistance where necessary for numerous community organizations and initiatives—raffle tickets, show planning, elaborate and thought-provoking performances and so much more. A “chaser of the light,” Alura hopes to inspire others to be the truest versions of themselves, despite the nay-sayers and haters. She is enjoying every minute of the work the sisters put in and looks forward to a future full of positivity and creativity as the sisterhood gains its legs and acts as a voice for those without.

SISTER WANDA LUST

Sister Wanda Lust describers herself as the token straight girl in the Bread Basket Sisters and an inter-sectional feminist. She will be the first to offer a feminist rant and check people's privilege. However, still learning about a great deal in life, she's also quick to check her own privilege and allow the great Queens in her life to educate her. Her great loves in life are travel, food, and people. Most of Wanda's adult life has been dedicated to working or volunteering in the non-profit community, primarily with refugees. She would say she's an overly optimistic person, willing to believe the best in everyone. Working with people from diverse backgrounds and traveling the globe has given Wanda the opportunity to broaden her worldview, championing all sorts of causes. Growing up in a house with an uncle diagnosed with AIDS in the 90s meant that she has been a supporter and fierce defender of LGBTQ+ rights and policies and people for most of her life. She's excited and honoured to be a member of the Bread Basket Sisters and looks forward to seeing what she and her fellow sisters can do in the community.

SISTER BEYONDA STARS

GUARD JUST PATRICK

Sister Beyonda describes herself as the behind the scene queen. She has been involved in the community for years, preferring to work from behind the curtain to try to make everything come together as smoothly as possible. From helping paint, decorating, being a friendly face while taking tickets, mixing up some cocktails, or even doing some of the heavy lifting, Beyonda is always happy to come out and support the community and various other charities. She hopes to be an example to others that even if you're shy, or feeling a little intimidated, you don't have to be great at makeup or be an extrovert to be a sister; there's a spot for everyone.

SISTER YADA YOU OUGHTA BOOK AHEAD

Sister Yada describes herself as a fun loving queen who cares deeply about her community. She has been involved with many organizations over her 19 years of doing drag and 26 years of being involved with the ICS, GLCR and other various charities. Sequins, rhinestones, glitter and humour are used to brighten up the world and her wardrobe. Music has always been at the core of this sisters being and has been used to help through the difficult periods in her life. Other creative outlets have been discovered in the last few years to help her create a recognizable character. Sister Yada wants to inspire others to be the best they can be and to create a safe space for everyone to be included. This sisterhood is inspirational in the way it lets us grow and help everyone else around us.

SISTER AIDA BAGUETTE

Sister Aida Baguette would describe herself as the “get it done” sister. She’s been involved in various community groups over the years, both in the GSD community and beyond! Becoming a Sister this year was a baby step into a world of fun and sisterhood! Who knew make-up was so expensive? She enjoys spreading joy within the community and helping to get our little Mission off the ground. Thanks to Sister Jenny Talia for extending an invitation to become a Bread Basket Sister, and opening the door to a world of fun, joy and sisters to Saskatchewan!

When Sister Jenny and the others started this endeavor in Regina I was excited and supportive from behind the scenes. I wanted to get involved and support The Sisters. But was unsure if, as a female and ally, this was allowed. When Jenny asked me in the summer of 2018 I was delighted to join! I got involved because I thought that it's important that, as an ally, I can help bring attention to such a great cause and support the community. It is not always that this community is supported by outside people and I wanted to change that. As a mother I can't imagine what it is like to not support my children; as a friend I can't imagine what it would be like to not support a friend, and as a family member I can't imagine what it's like to not support a family member. And that is what got me involved. I could be somone’s support and get involved more. No matter who you are, you are very important and I feel like if there's a possibility I can help people feel that way, then great! The Breadbasket Sisters lets me spread love, joy, and happiness. As a very empathetic person I wanted to feel and see that love. Mostly I wanted to be here to support anyone who needs support. I'm kind of a mama bear and I am excited to work with such a great group of people who are more like family. On a side note: I am also available for weddings and other events so your aunt Edna doesn't ask why you don’t have a date.

SISTER CÜM DUMP-STAR

Sister Cüm Dumpster is a staple in the Regina queer community helping many different organizations with her skills and talents! She started helping the Bread Basket Sisters in 2018 with our pride parade float which was a smash hit! In 2019 she upped her game and our float was one of the highlights of the parade! She’s a helper that asks for little in return from those she loves. She exemplifies what we are about: Joy, Love, and chest hair.
